Jibbu

An urgent call came from the local Panchayat: a dog, struck by a motorcycle the night before, had been crawling in agony all day, dragging her left leg behind. Villagers offered food and water, but didn’t know what to do. We found her hidden amongst some logs, terrified and crying out, her pain making her lash out.

Carefully, we muzzled her, placed her on a board, and lifted her into the car. Two hours later, at the only 24/7 clinic, x-rays revealed a severe spinal fracture. Time was critical. Surgery was her only chance, but it meant an eight-hour drive to Bangalore.

So Jibbu, this little village dog, embarked on a slow and careful journey to the big city, leaving behind her world of banana trees and winding mountain roads. Who could have imagined all that she would see? Jibbu’s road to recovery will be long and challenging after the deep spinal surgery she underwent.
